Some people’s misconstrued views of the dance world are killing me.
Dance is more than just separating emotions into ‘happy’ and 'sad’. There is more than that. Not every dance has to be about a struggle. Not every dance has to be about love. Not every dance is about anything at all.
Not every dancer has flawless extension. Not every dancer is stick skinny. Not every dancer can do everything.
I just want people to understand that. Instead they just write off the dancing I like to do as “weird” or that they don’t get it. Why does everyone have to understand everything? Why can’t anyone just make up their own meaning behind something. Or better yet, enjoy the fact that it’s real.
A few days after she made history, becoming the first African American woman to be named Principal Dancer with the American Ballet Theater, Misty Copeland is taking her ballerina skills to Broadway this summer, making her debut, joining the cast of the musical, “On the Town” - but only for a 2-week run that will begin on August 25.
She’ll be playing a New York City Ballet principal dancer named Ivy.
“On the Town” is a musical that is actually based on an idea for a 1944 ballet titled “Fancy Free,” by Jerome Robbins, and introduced several popular classic songs, like “New York, New York,” and others. The story follows 3 American sailors on a 24-hour shore leave in New York City during WWII. Each of them meets and quickly connects with a woman.+

Amazing feet
NO
I feel some sort of way
Just Evelyn Bovo’s feet if you’re wondering who’s the girl.
She studies at La Scala Ballet School and is currently attending the 6th or 7th year I guess, and she’s my age (16)
I can’t even
That’s it. I’m quitting
In René Clair’s Entr’acte, the dancer’s tutu seen from beneath ‘spreads out like a flower’, and the flower ‘opens and closes its corolla, enlarges its petals, and lengthens its stamens’, to turn back into the opening legs of a dancer
just ya know…some of my teachers.
